BookClub is an author-led learning platform that connects authors to readers. Pitched as “MasterClass meets GoodReads,” I joined the education-focused startup before its launch and series A funding. I led the brand themes, story development, and creative execution of each book club, established production processes, directed video productions, edited video content, created GFX motion graphics, and built company brand assets — regularly working closely with the VP of Brand, VP of Production, and Creative Director.

Series A Funding

Establishing the BookClub platform and product helped acquire Series A funding of $20MM, 58% larger than the average Series A funding in 2020. This was used to continue growing the platform and connecting more authors to readers.

Barbara Corcoran

Entrepreneurship

Through celebrity-moderated video interviews, BookClub was able to best categorize themed book club series that readers could explore and learn from a wide array of authors. One of the first productions we did in this format was Barbara Corcoran’s entrepreneur series as the Shark Tank star interviewed fellow entrepreneurs and their books.

Astonish Me

Maggie Shipstead

Direct Address videos on BookClub were one of the most personal styles of learning from authors, speaking directly to the viewer watching the series and addressing critical attributes of their novel. I created the motion graphics for this book club and wrote and established the interview theme and story.

FranklinCovey

Leadership

Moderated series were another style of book clubs, this one with the leadership-focused FranklinCovey company. This book club series provided a platform for businesses and leaders to optimize how they lead. I created the theme of the series, wrote the club series interviews and story flow, and created promotional clips and motion graphics.
