I know I might be a little late to the game as this list was originally published in 2011, but it still has so much truth in what makes telling a great story and why we like them as an audience. A lot of times people think using some of these while writing is cliché or it becomes something done before – but every great story has if not all of these, then definitely most of them. It’s why Pixar always distributes really original and gripping movies (with the exception of a few, I know. But if you look at those few exceptions and compare it to this list, you’ll see what’s missing and why it wasn’t as captivating.)
Anyway, wanted to share to help both writers and movie watchers better understand storytelling… including myself.
